It's been a little while since I just drew something, especially at such a large scale. It's been even longer since I broke down and drew a moon....
I made this -- to put it simply -- in memory of my past. The nail/screw hybrid resting on the lip of the crescent relates back to a time when I was little; my friend managed to fall and retain a throat injury from a similar object. The life of this person (as well as that of most of my childhood friends) has since deteriorated. It leads to the age old question: "Why me?"
Other symbols are left to the viewer to determine. I let a lot out in this piece, despite its seeming simplicity.
very good! this, and your description make it seem mysterious and beckoning. the eye we can see well is harsh, even cruel, but in pain. the tree/cone things going off into the distance seem like they're expressing something, but i'm not sure what. really cool work.
Your faces have come a long way; you know that? :3
I typically don't like pieces that are chalked full of symbolism and such, even if they are grand to look at, just because they don't usually make much of an impact on me. I do like this a lot, though...maybe it's because I actually know you. :/
