This Approaching Repercussion by Mivala This Approaching Repercussion by Mivala
Andddddddddd, voila!
Title: "This Approaching Repercussion"
16"x20", acrylics on canvas. Completed January 27, 2013.

This is my first attempt at painting one of my more traditionally surreal images. I rather wish the photo did this a little more justice -- but alas, this is the best I could do.
Where do I begin with this one? I put about as much thought into it as I would one of my drawings; in fact, this started out as a sketch I did in a recent sitting. There's a certain, added depth that came with using color...I feel like it accurately conveys the initial visions I was having.
My thoughts have been a little all over the place, as usual. In the moments I was painting this, I reflected on all the little abstract patterns in my life -- I can't stress enough how much of an impact they have on what I create. Lately the patterns have manifested themselves in communication -- the way people talk to (or often, at) me, what they say, phrases they use, etc. This painting is of such reverberation, I suppose.
I won't say anymore; see what you will, take a hint, lose yourself -- whatever you want. There's significance in everything, I hope you enjoy!:)

This is an amazingly painted surreal dreamscape! The creepy skeleton candle and the strange even one eyed mountains lining the bottem of the cage stucture really pop out as being the gloomy dark side to this seemingly happy sunny day spiraling ribbons on a strange surreal floating dreamscape. The feeling of the clouds and the mist coming off the cage remind me of human pollution and chemtrailing for profit. With total disregard for the safety of all living things on Earth.

This strange eye filled vision really grabbed my attention right away and I feel excited about the all the potential painting that you will make in the future, technique is a four because nothing is perfect there is always room for improvement and I cant wait to see the work you come up with in the future!

Thank you so much for sharing this artwork with all of us!!
Sali.

I think there's a sort of Peter Pan syndrome incorporated into a lot of my work, though I don't often mention it.  I find it interesting that you feel that way towards this piece in particular.O:

ahh, i wish i could explain exactly what it was...it reminds me of something i've almost felt before, many times throughout my life, but it's just barely out of reach. if that makes any sense. but looking at it from the "abstract patterns" perspective, i can definitely see some interweaving rhythms in the picture that could be interpreted as a reflection of life's patterns...it's cool!

i know absolutely shitworth about art, especially paintings, and have never had so much as a lesson or class, but i swear i see the convergence of your favored renaissance and surrealistic styles here, along with a third, even more modern style i would not even know the name of (not having any knowledge of periods or artists or such), with the composition subjects and fluidity, dramatic and far reaching perspective, and (for lack of a better phrase) brush stroke intonation, respectively. im digging further and further into your gallery and really liking what im seeing.

Everything is balanced so well! My eyes sort of circle around the image... The square holes are the coolest part in my opinion though

That is the first eye-hill-reaper-candle I have ever seen!!!

Haha, indeed there was a lot of thought.:') So many things always happening in my life and they all go straight into a painting or drawing.

This one is actually outdated now, I think! I painted it like, last week, but already I've escaped the "trouble" that caused it.

I agree. My life experience and daily thought go so deep in to my paintings. Though many appear simple there's a story and a lot of thought in each one.

wow, very nice!! I love the composition and the title gives it a dark feeling. Its so surreal because the colors may seem almost happy but the images are disconnected and foreboding. AWESOME WORK!! (and great detail for a 16x20)
